The project brings together contemporary Indigenous fashion and cultural storytelling, creating opportunities for artists to expand their creative practice into textile and garment design while strengthening pathways for ethical, community-led fashion production.
As part of the program, pattern maker and artist Cath Wright will also return to Badu to work closely with the Textile Studio team. Workshops and mentoring will focus on managing production runs, quality control, stock management and building sustainable studio systems to support future growth.
The FLOURISH grant represents an important investment in skills development, creative collaboration and long-term economic opportunities for Badu artists and makers. Through partnerships with leading First Nations creatives and industry professionals, Badu Art Centre continues to grow its textile studio while sharing the stories, culture and creativity of Badu Island through fashion and design.
